One mum got a unexpected festive gift when her second child arrived on Christmas morning - after only a five-minute labour.
Georgie Moss, 22, gave birth in her own bed whilst her partner, Jack, 24, was downstairs. She had been in labour for just a matter of minutes when daughter, Poppy, arrived at 3.05am. This year, Georgie is hoping the festive period will be less eventful.
Mum-of-two Georgie, from Wigan, said: "Last Christmas passed me by in a blur. This year, despite arranging a first birthday party alongside planning Christmas, I'm hoping it might be slightly less exciting. It was a wonderful Christmas Day but I wouldn't like to do it every year. I wasn't actually due to give birth until New Year's Day but I must have had an instinct that I was going to give birth at Christmas, because on Christmas Eve I insisted on my partner taking a photo of my bump, under the Christmas tree.
"I just felt it might be our last chance - and it was!" Georgie and Jack met eight years ago at school and are childhood sweethearts. Their first child, Albie, was born in April 2020. Early in 2022, Georgie fell pregnant again, with a due date of New Year's Day 2023.

A scan showed I was having a girl, which was just what we both wanted. She was due on New Year's Day, so I thought we'd be able to celebrate Christmas before thinking about the baby."

On Christmas Eve, the family went bowling before setting out Albie's Santa stocking. Georgie said: "Santa had bought a mini quad bike for Albie and of course his Dad had to have a quick whizz around the garden on it! The wheels were muddy and, as I bent down to wipe them, I felt a funny sensation in my stomach. It felt very heavy, as if the baby was low.
"I insisted on Jack taking a photo of me with my bump by the Christmas tree and then I went to bed. But at 230am I woke in pain. I realised in panic I was in labour, so I called my dad, Jeff, to come and look after Albie. Dad promised he'd be at the house for 3am, but as he arrived, I realised there was no chance of me getting to hospital. I told Jack to get Albie out of the house quickly, for my Dad to take him home.

Poppy celebrates her first birthday on Christmas Day (FOCUS FEATURES)"Whilst Dad and Jack were outside, I suddenly felt the head crowning. In the next moment, my baby flew out onto the bed! I started shouting but Jack and Dad couldn't hear me. They thought I was a bird in a tree at first. Eventually, Jack ran up the stairs and was stunned when he found me with a baby in my arms. We brought Albie upstairs to meet his baby sister, before Dad took him back to his place."
Georgie and Poppy were taken to hospital by ambulance where checks showed both were healthy. Poppy weighed in at 6lbs 8ozs. Mum and baby were discharged at 4pm - just in time for a slap-up Christmas dinner with Georgie's grandmother.
Georgie added: "It was a wonderful Christmas Day, but this year, I don't want any surprises!"
