The Big Bang Theory’s Kate Micucci has shared the news she is now cancer-free following her shocking lung cancer diagnosis earlier this month.
The 43-year-old, who formerly played Lucy on the long-running CBS series, shared her new health update on TikTok, much to the relief of worried fans. The actress grinned as she said: “I have great news, which is that I am cancer-free!”
In a separate post, the star went on to explain that the surgery had been successful: “The surgery last week went great. All the reports came back that it worked. I don’t need to do any other treatment.”
Kate was sure to thank the doctors and hospital workers who looked after her. “So big thank you to all my doctors and nurses and everyone that took just really great care of me,” she said. “And thanks to figuring it out early because I am very, very lucky and I know that. I’m just really grateful that things worked out as they did. I’m feeling really good today and I’m honestly just so excited and truly grateful.”

The star gushed: “I have great news, which is that I am cancer-free!” (Getty Images)The mother of one shocked fans earlier this month when she revealed she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, despite never having smoked a cigarette in her life. The star went viral on TikTok as she posted a video explaining she was in the process of recovering from surgery after the unexpected discovery that she had .
“They caught it really early. It’s really weird because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life, so you know, it was a surprise,” she said in the video, clearly determined to keep a brave face. “But also, I guess it happens, and so the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out – I’m all good.”
(CBS via Getty Images)Well-wishing fans were keen to question how Kate was able to detect the cancer so early on, with one asking: "What made you go in to get it checked out? was it a general check up? or was there symptoms?" To which she explained: "I had one thing in my bloodwork that came back really high. So I went to a preventative doc who did a few scans. He scanned my heart and that’s where the spot in my lung was noticed."
Outside of the Big Bang Theory Kate starred in a number of other popular shows including Scrubs, The Little Hours, Raising Hope, Garfunkel and Oates, and most recently the horror series Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities.
