A vicious thug stabbed his victim 11 times in a row about “overpriced” car parts which turned into a “sustained a frenzied attack”, a court has heard.
The victim was rushed to Heartlands Hospital in a life-threatening condition. Police said Ihtisham Khan was identified from CCTV footage, which captured the horrific incident. The 21-year-old was convicted of section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article following a trial which ended at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday, December 14.
The customer, angry that he felt he had been overcharged, got into an argument with Khan, BirminghamLive reports. But the man was left hospitalised after Khan carried out a frenzied knife attack while he sat in a friend’s car. The senseless assault occurred on Ellesmere Road, Alum Rock in Birmingham.
In a statement, police said: "A man from Birmingham has been convicted of carrying out a sustained and frenzied attack on another man while he was sitting in a vehicle following a dispute over car parts. Ihtisham Khan stabbed his victim eleven times leaving him in a life-threatening condition in hospital.
"Khan, 21, was found guilty last Thurs (Dec 14) of a Section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.The attack took place shortly before 8pm on June 8 this year, on Ellesmere Road, Alum Rock. An off duty police officer witnessed part of the attack and called emergency services. The victim’s friend drove him to Heartlands Hospital where he received treatment for his stab wounds.

"We identified Khan as the suspect for the attack and arrested him quickly. Officers worked hard on the case and gathered CCTV evidence which showed Khan carry out the senseless attack on his victim.When officers later spoke to the victim he revealed how he had bought car parts from Khan and believed he had been overcharged so went to confront him at his home in Ellesmere Road. But while he was waiting in his friend’s car Khan came to the vehicle and stabbed him multiple times."
Det Con Andrew Snowdon, lead investigator, from the Major Crime Reactive Team 5, said: “This was a sustained and frenzied attack by Khan after a minor dispute. The victim was defenceless and it must have been a frightening ordeal. Knife crime has no place on any street in the West Midlands and I am glad that the jury has found him guilty unanimously of a very serious assault and possession of a knife.” Khan will be sentenced on February 26, 2024.
