Peter Andre has revealed he accidentally let the cat out of the bag weeks before he should have when it came to announcing wife Emily’s pregnancy.
The couple are expecting their third child together after already welcoming daughter Amelia, nine, and seven-year-old son Theo. While Peter shares older kids Junior, 18, and Princess, 16, with ex-wife Katie Price.
Sharing their happy news in a sweet Instagram post on October 12 – with 34-year-old Emily holding a scan photo in her hands as they beamed at the camera - the pair wrote: “We are delighted to share the news with you all. A new addition to our family in 2024. The kids are so excited. So are we.”
But there was one family member who found out way before everyone else did – and that was Peter’s oldest son, Junior. As he prepares to become a dad for the fifth time, 50-year-old Peter made a slip up that broke the news early rather than the regular three-month mark.
“The plan was to keep the pregnancy a secret from the kids until Emily passed the three-month mark, but as with all best-laid plans, it didn’t quite work out that way. I was really excited to tell the kids, but we decided it was sensible to wait in case something went wrong – we couldn’t face delivering bad news,” Peter said in a chat with OK! magazine.
Greggs, Costa & Pret coffees have 'huge differences in caffeine', says reportRevealing his error, Peter continued: “Then one day, without thinking, I asked Junior to pick up a prescription from the pharmacy for Emily and he rang me and said, ‘Dad, I’ve got to tick a box saying if she’s pregnant or not. What should I do?’ So Junior found out a little earlier, but that really wasn’t the plan!”
While everything is ok now, Peter recalled the terrifying moment pregnant wife Emily was rushed to hospital - just moments before he was due to go on stage. He shared Emily’s third pregnancy hasn't been an easy time, but he praised his wife for "never complaining" and said she “just gets on it".
He said: "I was due to go on stage in Grease in the West End and I got a call saying, ‘Emily’s been rushed to A&E.’ It was really worrying and obviously I immediately went to support her, but thankfully everything was OK.”
He also revealed he was ready for changing nappies again seven years after his youngest son, Theo, was born. "I’ve got as much energy now as I had in my twenties. I feel fantastic. I’m ready for this," he said.
Peter met doctor Emily through her father, Dr. Ruaraidh MacDonagh, in 2010. The consultant urologist treated Peter for kidney stones after he was rushed to hospital in excruciating pain and the two ended up staying in touch after the Mysterious Girl singer had been discharged. Peter and Emily went on to marry in a lavish ceremony at a Devon castle in July 2015, three years after going public with their romance.
