Armed police scrambled to a town centre this afternoon after reports of a person being spotted with a handgun.
Police are currently at the scene of an incident along the High Street in Cheadle, North Staffordshire, as locals were warned to stay inside.
An image from the scene shows armed police units and dog teams on the scene, StokeonTrentLive reported, as one witness claimed an individual was spotted with what appeared to be a handgun. They added that they had been out on the street, and were "knocking on windows and doors".
Cops were first called at 4.20pm this afternoon, and around 7pm this evening were said to have left. The force has been approached for comment on details of the incident.
