Gervonta Davis has branded Jake Paul a "clown" after the social media star predicted Ryan Garcia would beat his rival in the pair's planned April fight.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has simultaneously maintained a strong relationship over the years with Garcia, whom he met while living in Los Angeles, and a prickly one with Davis. And he took to Twitter after watching the lightweight defeat Hector Luis Garcia on Saturday night to make his prediction known for the potential super-fight.
Davis and Garcia have been rivals for years, but it now appears that there are limited hurdles in the way of a bout between the two finally happening on April 15. It is expected that the duo will meet in Las Vegas, with terms agreed between both sides and contracts now ready to sign.
Paul reckons that Garcia, the 24-year-old knockout artist, will get the better of the battle, writing on Twitter after Davis' last outing that "Ryan Garcia will knock Gervonta Davis out." And it didn't go unnoticed by the WBA 'regular' lightweight champion, who was asked about Paul's comments at the post-fight press conference.
" Jake Paul is a clown and Ryan is a baby clown," Garcia told the media when the tweet was raised. "Tell him to get ready. That's what they do, they like to talk off and try to get fame off other people's victories and other things like that. There shouldn't be no more talking, it should just be working."

Garcia, also known for his talking, took to social media to respond to express his confidence that he would come out on top in a clash between the pair. After sending one analytical tweet during the fight, he wrote "Goodbye Tank is over for you," followed by "No more talking let’s get it on," as well as confirming an April 15 fight date.
Speaking after the fight, Davis appeared to confirm that he is facing Ryan Garcia next, saying during his in-ring interview with Showtime: "I'm ready for the fight. It's scheduled for April. I'm here. He's been training, he's been talking and let's see who's really about that."
Saturday night's bout would have been a relatively straight-forward matter for Davis, who left Hector Garcia in no position to continue after the eighth round. But the action was stopped by the referee to allow time for a ringside fight to be broken up between former featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr and rapper Meek Mill, which caused a lengthy break in proceedings.
