Nella Rose stole the show on i'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! this year as she locked horns with her fellow campmate Nigel Farage over Brexit and called him out for his beliefs.
But now, in a resurfaced video posted on TikTok, it looks as though her argument with the former UKIP leader was an trigger for her, as it brought back memories of her parent's heartbreaking split. Nella grew up in the Congo with both her parents until they all decided to move to Belgium in the hope of starting a new life. But during this time, the 26 year old YouTube star's parents split, forcing her mum to take Nella and her brother and flee to the UK.
Speaking to her fellow influencers Chunkz and Young Filly, the I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here star said: "So obviously my whole family mum and dad, they were based in Congo living it up, enjoying the sun, the palm trees. And then I think there was this massive propaganda in Africa where they're like, there's better opportunities in Europe, you can go and start a life in Europe, there's more money, they can give you housing, more jobs etc."
She added: "So I guess my parent's fell for it. So they went to Belgium to start a new life and obviously divorces happen. I'm a product of divorce but look at me I'm leng. As a woman, I hear my mum. You do not want to wake up every day and look at your ex, so if it's a fly overseas thing, then it's a fly overseas thing."
Understanding her mother's plight before heading to the UK to start a new life as a single mother, Nella said that her mother would have been thinking: "I don't want to be at the corner shop and see my ex, I don't want to pick up my kids and see my ex." Speaking of her first experience of being in the UK she added: " We pull up at Victoria Station and I see pigeons everywhere, scattered everywhere. And we had nowhere to stay so we were just posted at Victoria Station. And I was like 'I have to go night , night here?'"
Teachers, civil servants and train drivers walk out in biggest strike in decadeAt the time, Nella accused Farage of being anti-immigrant on the back of his Brexit campaign. She also screamed over the top of his voice, saying that she was "one of them", meaning she was an immigrant. But Farage is not the only person that was on the receiving end of Nella's wrath. So too was Fred Sirieix.
Nella hit back at the First Dates star after she thought he was disrespecting her following a comment where he claimed he was old enough to be her father at 51. Both Nella's parents passed away, her dad being the most recent in 2020. Their fall out became one of the biggest talking points of the series, which ended with Sam Thompson being crowned winner.
Nella faced a huge backlash from viewers who felt that she had over-reacted during both arguments. But in support of the star was a family member who told the Mail: "All of Nella’s siblings and other members of her family, wherever they are in the world, are watching her in the jungle – and praying that she wins."
They added: "We are very proud of her achievements, it’s amazing what she’s done. She is showing the fighting spirit of the Congolese people and we are all with her." Nella and her brother Albert were forced to leave their North London flat just 30 days after their mum, Eseho Omolongo, passed away suddenly in 2016. The siblings have also had to cope with the loss of their dad, Kamango Paul Hollela, four years later.
