A bride who threw what was dubbed the “wedding of the century” has gone dark on social media - after her new husband was charged with shooting at police officers.

Madelaine Brockway, 26, became a viral sensation when posting a video of her $56million wedding on TikTok. The Parisian wedding left viewers in awe of the lavish surroundings, with an extravagant bachelorette party and a private performance from Maroon 5 to top off the five-day celebration.

But the happy times haven’t lasted as long as Ms Brockway would have liked, as her significant other now sits in a prison cell facing decades in prison for the serious crime of attacking a police officer. Jacob Chase LaGrone is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant after being accused of firing a gun at police on March 14 in Texas.

The officers were responding to a call which claimed there was a disturbance in the area when Mr LaGrone supposedly fired at them, with the indictment saying the 29-year-old “intentionally and knowingly threaten[ed] imminent bodily injury”. It added that he “did use or exhibit a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault, namely, a firearm”.

It is believed Mr Lagrone - who appeared in Tarrant County District Court on Thursday - could face life in prison for the shooting. He has been offered a plea deal by prosecutors which would see him put behind bars for 25 years if he pleaded guilty and didn’t request a trial according to the New York Post.

It’s a devastating turn of events for Mercedes-Benz dealer Ms Brockway, who just weeks ago had enjoyed the happiest day of her life, meanwhile taking social media by storm with the glam nuptials. The daughter of Robert “Bob” Brockway, who owns multiple Mercedes-Benz dealerships across Florida, even stayed overnight in the Palace of Versailles - the former residence of French royalty and the same building in which the Treaty of Versailles between Germany and the Allied powers was signed, ending the First World War.

Many were comparing Ms Brockway’s wedding to that of socialite Sofia Richie, who’s wedding in Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes caused a stir. But event planner Lauren Zigman said on TikTok: “Sofia Richie’s was the ‘it girl’ wedding of 2023? No, this one is. Madelaine Brockway’s wedding is it.”

Ms Brockwell kicked off the celebrations with a “dream bachelorette” party in the exclusive Amangiri resort in the Utah desert. Each night fit a different theme, with everything snapped by a videographer, the New York Post reported.

The first night was “Pretty in Pink” with a poolside dinner, before “Aliens Among Us” with green decorations, before “Golden Hour” on night three. Marie Antoinette was the theme of night four, with petticoats and powdered wigs to get the women into the spirit of the wedding of French royalty they were set to enjoy.

At the wedding itself, Maroon 5 played the first dance music before going into a full concert outside. The knot was tied in a fancy outdoor ceremony, with one excitable stranger saying: “When I say I am obsessed and it is the most perfect wedding of all time, I am not exaggerating. I highly recommend going to follow Madelaine Brockway — she will be your new obsession and she is mine.” Unfortunately, that is no longer possible.
