Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 will be dropping this week, bringing a functional metro system, car races and more. Here's what time the free update will go live.
Following the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update and the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC in September, CD Projekt Red has been busy making Cyberpunk 2077 the game we all expected it could be, and it's not stopping there. The follow-up to The Witcher 3 is getting yet another new content update this week, with Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 launching on the same day as the physical release of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition.
Here's the Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 release time, early patch notes and everything we know about the new metro system.
The Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 release time is 11pm GMT / 6am EST / 3am PST on Tuesday, December 5, with CD Projekt Red confirming the release time via a blog post. Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 will go live at the same time on all platforms including PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Unlike the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty release time, which was 12am in every region, players in the UK and Australia won't get head start on players based in the US when Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 drops.
Why Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thingCD Projekt Red has now released the full Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 patch notes, but the developer gave players some early patch notes via a blog post a few days prior, showing the scale of the free content update. Here's a roundup of all the Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 early patch notes:
Ahead of the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1, CD Projekt Red gave an overview of the update via a pre-recorded stream on Twitch, with most of the stream focusing on the new citywide NCART metro system that will be added to the game as part of the update. Although, technically, there is already a metro system in the game, it's not functional and players can't enter it or interact with it, but that's all about to change with Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1.
Pawel Sasko, quest director, and Monika Janowska, producer, explained how the new metro system works and also showed gameplay footage of it working. They explained that players can travel between 19 different stations – either as fast travel, or riding the metro manually to get to each destination – with the metro having five lines operating at once, which can be found on a dedicated metro map.
Due to narrative reasons, players will only be able to access the metro system once they have completed 'The Heist' mission at Konpeki Plaza, with the player getting a message from NCART – the name of the metro system – when it's available for you to use. Before this time, the metro stations will only be able to be used as a fast travel system.
