Comedian and TV host Sue Perkins has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The 53-year-old former Great British Bake Off host hinted she was diagnosed with the condition later in life and that everything “made sense” once she received the news.

ADHD is a condition which causes those that are affected by it to feel restless and often struggling to concentrate - and is manageable with therapy and medical treatments.

Sue made her revelation while responding to a social media post issued by Gomez guitarist Tom Gray who expressed a suspicion he has the condition himself.

The Rhythm & Blues Alibi guitarist wrote on Twitter : "I’m creeping towards an ADHD diagnosis. Strongly advised to do it to help me but more likely help people who have relationships with me.

He added: "Never realised before how object permanence is such a problem for me. Staying in touch rarely if ever occurs to me. I can only apologise."

The tweet drew Sue's attention and she revealed that she has been diagnosed with the condition in the past.

She wrote in response to Tom's tweet: "I have fully crept. Once I had the diagnosis, suddenly everything made sense - to me and those who love me. Wishing you well on the journey, Tom."

Back in 2021, Sue revealed she had received news of a different medical condition that left her devastated.

The star was working on show called Supersizers in 2015 when medical examinations revealed she had a tumour on her pituitary gland.

Sue admitted the diagnosis "destroyed" her and explained how she had been through a "very dark time" once she was told about the tumour.

She said: "I have been through a very, very dark time since the tumour started to make its presence felt.

"Sometimes it's big and makes me mad, and sometimes it's small and is in the background."

Sue had to have various tests to check on the side effects of the tumour, as she discussed the "epic destruction" it caused.

"Sometimes it screws up my hormones. I have various tests now to make sure the side effects aren't too onerous."

The former Great British Bake Off star recalled how she was told she had a brain tumour in a "very clinical white side-room" whilst filming the 2015 TV show, which tracked the impact eating unusual food had on her body.

She said: "In this small, very clinical white side-room, this woman said ‘your bloods are very awry and you have a brain tumour'.

"There’s always a delay for me. It’s only really now that I consider the epic destruction this tiny little rice-shaped thing in my pituitary gland has caused."

She also explained at the time that she was unsure how the diagnosis could affect possible future plans to get pregnant.
