A number of popular gaming platforms including Xbox Live and Playstation Network are down with players left to vent online.

Players of Fortnite, Call of Duty and Minecraft have reported connectivity issues. Over 3,000 Fortnite players have reported outages in the last half hour on connectivity monitor Down Detector.

The downing of the two networks coincided with a launch of a new Fortnite event called The Big Bang. Some users speculated the outages of other networks might be connected. One wrote on X: "I reckon the Fortnite event has affected Xbox Live in someway... Anybody else struggling to sign in?"

Another wrote: "The Fortnite live event just broke my Xbox"

Frustrated gamers took to social media to report and complain about the situation. One user was unsurprised posting on X, formerly Twitter: "Xbox live is down yet again."

Xbox support reported that users were having problems accessing party chat, logging in and playing on the cloud. They urged people to keep an eye on their social media channels for updates.

An update from Xbox Support reads: "We are aware that users are encountering issues signing in to Xbox Live, accessing party chat, and launching cloud gaming sessions. While our teams investigate, follow along here and on our status page."

Before the Big Bang event in Fortnite even started players were already complaining about long queue times that will see them miss out – luckily, Epic is adding more shows to the schedule.

Excitement level are brimming over in the run up to The Big Bang event in Fortnite. The event is set to kick off with an in-game Eminem concert, and combined with the fact that it's the first Fortnite live event we've had since 2022's The Fracture, it's no wonder players are champing at the bit to get in.

Epic Games advised dropping into the game 30 minutes before the concert, which give you plenty of time to don your Fortnite Eminem skin and accessories. But players on social media are already reporting super long queue times which would see them miss the event.

Happily, the published took to Twitter to share the news that this year's Fortnite live event is giving everyone the chance to partake, with two more showings of The Big Bang lined up after the first show at 7pm GMT / 2pm EST / 11am PST.
