As rumours recirculate that Taylor Swift secretly married her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, we're looking at all the times Swifties were convinced she privately tied the knot.
Starkly contrast her new whirlwind romance with NFL star Travis Kelce, Taylor previously kept her last serious relationship with Joe as low key as possible. As Taylor and Travis continue to show off their love for the world to see, Taylor and her ex did the opposite as they kept tight-lipped about almost every aspect of their love lives and very rarely spoke of one another in interviews.
But despite purposefully keeping their love out of headlines as much as possible, fans still caught wind of every clue the artist dropped their way that the pair could have secretly wed. From subtle signs in her photos, to specific outfit choices and hidden meanings behind her lyrics - fans have picked up on it all over the years.

Fans were convinced that Joe and Taylor had secretly tied the knot after the pop singer seemingly dropped a major clue in the music video of the re-released song "ME!" In the video, the Grammy award-winning singer was seen with a massive sparkling diamond on her engagement ring finger with many believing that was her unique way of dropping the exciting news.
'I'm spending £20k on a new bathroom - but won't help my brother out with cash'Taylor was later also seen sporting the very same ring in her 2020 documentary Miss Americana. After picking up on the subtle reoccurrence, Swifties took to Twitter sharing their theory that she had secretly wed her boyfriend of six years. One fan wrote: "I low key think Taylor Swift is straight up married to Joe forget the fact we all saw that big a** engagement ring in the doc."
But upon further inspection, some fans shut down the theory as they claimed that it actually wasn't a diamond on her ring finger but actually a cat's face.
Fans believed another telltale clue the singer had secretly married her longtime lover is the time she seemingly changed the original lyrics of her hit song "Love Story" indicating a new milestone in her relationship. In a clip that went viral on TikTok, Taylor seemed to switch up the original lyrics from "baby, just say yes," to "baby just said yes."
After catching the switch up, one fan tweeted: "Wait why aren’t we talking about the fact that taylor said 'it’s a love story baby just SAID yes' i just saw a tiktok and i didn’t even notice until the girl pointed it out omg original lyrics are baby just say yes is our queen trying to tell us something."
In 2020 as Taylor was still going strong with Joe, she released her calming and magical album Folklore. And as the singer teased the music video for her song Willow, she was seen wearing a fairy-like white lace dress with a white flower crown perched on top of her head. Many fans were completely convinced it was her wedding dress.
As Taylor posted a photo in the gorgeous gown, fans raved over the thrilling rumours that she was finally going to be marrying her longtime partner. On Twitter one fan wrote: "MA'AM IS THAT A WEDDING DRESS" and another agreed: "That’s a wedding dress and you can’t change my mind about that." In the very same album, fans believed that another song was directed at her rumoured marriage with Joe as the creative songwriter said she was "drinking my husband's wine."
During that same time period Taylor also posted a snap on Instagram with a string wrapped around her finger which many thought indicated she "tied the knot" with her longtime boyfriend. The clue seemed especially noticeable as the singer appeared to have purposefully bent her finger for the shot calling extra attention to the accessory.
After the post, one fan excitedly Tweeted: "OKAY I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING," and continued: "DOESN’T IT LOOK LIKE THERES STRING ON HER RING FINGER?? (Aka to tie the knot)!??? DID SHE JUST ANNOUNCE THAT SHE AND JOE ARE ENGAGED??" Another agreed: "Bruh that’s a god-tier level easter egg." And a third wrote: "What the f**k is this her low key telling us?"
More recently, gossip page DeuxMoi shared a post about their relationship claiming that Taylor's song You're Losing Me featured on her 2022 album Midnights was written about a miscarriage that caused issues between her and Joe.
But as Taylor's publicist Tree Paine took notice of the false statements he took to Twitter bashing the account spreading misinformation about Taylor leading to the account removing the post. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, she wrote: "Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It's time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these."
'My sister tried to wear a wedding dress to my engagement party - I got revenge'DeuxMoi responded to Tree's post writing: "Well I make zero dollars from lying... can publicists say the same." and added: "Also, to relate something that is in reference to something that happened years ago to 'pain & trauma' after what just happened seems like a poor choice of words. Either way, I apologize to Taylor."
