A woman has celebrated her 101st birthday in style – grinning ear-to-ear next to a naked butler who rocked up for the occasion.

Winnie Goode turned 101 at her nursing home, and in the run-up to her birthday she'd simply told staff she just wanted a "nice man" to celebrate with. It's no surprise that she was left "beaming" when a muscly hunk appeared with her birthday cake on the big day.

The great-grandmother from Essex was seen clapping and smiling when she spotted the buff butler at her nursing home in Worcestershire, organised by the managers with the help of her son Chris.

"That was very nice – I enjoyed that immensely. I had two birthday cakes – it was very nice," she giddily explained. Winnie, who has two sons, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, shared that the secret to her long and happy life was down to luck. "A lot of it is luck. It's important to keep going, be busy, eat properly sleep properly and enjoy yourself," she added.

The landmark birthday was one to remember for the 101-year-old as she was hand-delivered her cake and a glass of Baileys by the butler. Laura Dourish, well-being leader at the Summerdyne Nursing Home in Bewdley, said: "When we asked Winnie what she wanted for her birthday she said, 'a nice man. We took that literally and thought that's what we'll get her. Her face literally lit up like a Christmas tree. She was really really excited.

"She thought it was so funny as well because we'd taken it so literally. We got him to bring in cake and give her a Baileys. She really enjoyed it".

Winnie was born on November 20, 1922, in Essex, when David Lloyd George was Prime Minister and King George V was on the throne. She married her husband George in 1942 and when World War Two broke out she worked in a munitions factory making fuses.

The couple lived in Norfolk and were married for 42 years before George passed away in 1984 and she moved closer to her family in Worcestershire. Winnie has impressively lived through 22 Prime Ministers and saw the entire 70-year-long reign of Queen Elizabeth II. She was also one of the first to receive a 100th birthday card from the King.

Winnie shared: "I feel very happy to have seen so much in my life." Her son Chris, 70, added: "She is a remarkable woman and I'm lucky to live close to the nursing home so see her every day. She has got a great sense of humour and absolutely loved the butler in the buff surprise, it was the best birthday present she could have had."
