Good Morning Britain viewers have slammed the show following a heated discussion about the latest Royal Family drama.
Presenters Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley were joined by the Mirror's Kevin Maguire and former MP Ed Vaizey as the ITV show reacted to the bombshell revelations from Omid Scobie's new salacious book, Endgame. Copies of book on the monarchy were recently pulled in Holland after it appeared to name the "royal racist".
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had in 2021 sent shockwaves through the royal family when they accused an unnamed senior royal of expressing "concern" about their child’s complexion in a bombshell interview with US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey. And now it appears the name is out there after a review copy of the book sent to Dutch journalists appeared to contain the identity of the royal who allegedly made the remarks.
This first hour of Good Morning Britain today saw the ITV programme prioritise reaction to the royal story, with the Dutch journalist who shared a screenshot of the extract revealing the name of the royal who made the comment appearing via video link. Rick Evers seemed perplexed by the attention his screenshot has received at one point, causing Richard to point out lots of people across the world care about "our royal family" and jokingly warning Rick not to poke fun at the monarchy.
Rick also revealed to Susanna and Richard that a second name is alluded to in Scobie's bombshell book, with the presenters seemingly stunned to learn the Dutch translation could cause even more drama.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesHowever, those watching at home were less than impressed. Taking to Twitter (X), Good Morning Britain viewers slammed the show and begged ITV bosses to change the subject. "ITV & GMB show how out of touch they are if they think any of the general public give a single f*** about the royal family, we all have real issues to worry about. #gmb #GoodMorningBritain," one fumed as the coverage rolled on.
"They're obsessed with this book. #gmb," another declared, with a third adding: "Jesus Christ nobody cares about the f***ing book! All ITV have done this week is talk about Harry, Meghan & this sodding book, on every single ITV show. They can’t help but talk sh** about Harry & Meghan, it’s toxic #gmb #GoodMorningBritain #HarryandMeghan."
"Dear @gmb Nobody gives a Scoby Do about the latest royal fiasco. What about the #CovidInquiry or other non-jungle news in the real wotld? #gmb," another fumed. "#GMB How many books have been written about the Royal Family unfavourable. But anytime something is connected to Harry Meghan the whole media sensationalises so dramatic about the couple like the end of the world. #Endgame @ GMB," ranted another angry viewer.

"Why is so much time being wasted on this bulls***! People across the country are in for a really rough winter, but nah! Fk em! Lets talk about the Royal fking family & Harry and Meghan again and again... and again," one disinterested viewer asked, as another simply ordered ITV: "Move on #gmb."
Rick Evers, the Dutch journalist who spotted the passage, said on his X (formerly Twitter ) profile: "NL (Netherlands) version 'Endgame' must be withdrawn from sale, says Dutch publisher at request of the US agent. "A number of passages have sparked debate, may not have been accurately presented. This seems to concern also the accusation against XXX (name redacted), about Archie's skin color (sic)."
He added in a further tweet which contained a translation in English of the Dutch copy of the book: "This is - as far as I know - only regarding the Dutch version, not the English one. It seems as if only the Dutch version has published the person's name who spoke about the skin color (sic)of the unborn child. XXX (NAME REDACTED)."
Buckingham Palace have not yet responded to requests for comment. Xander, the publishers of the Dutch translation of Omid Scobie's Endgame, have put sales of the book on hold "temporarily" over what it calls an "error". They said in a statement: "[We are] temporarily withdrawing the book by Omid Scobie from sale. An error occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being rectified."
