Many people may not be using their iPhone to its full advantage, with a helpful widget now changing up how the iPhone lock screen can be used. Live Activities, a new widget that works with the Lock Screen widgets, was launched late last year with the launch of Apple's iOS 16.1 update.

Thanks to Live Activities, which offers real-time information on unfolding events from football scores to food delivery updates, iPhone users can now customise the Lock Screen for the very first time. Some people however will have no clue whatsoever about this helpful widget, and won't be making full use of their lock screen.

According to Apple: "Live Activities is a new feature that helps users stay on top of things that are happening in real-time, such as a sports game, workout, ride-share, or food delivery order, right from the Lock Screen.

"Notifications have been redesigned to roll up from the bottom, ensuring that users have a clear view of their personalised Lock Screen."

Available on any iPhone capable of upgrading to iOS 16.1, Live Activity widgets can be found at the bottom of your Lock Screen. Apple's iOS 16.1 update is now available to try for yourself, and you can install it by simply going to Settings > General > Software Update.
