As the cold nights start drawing in, there’s no better time to indulge in a hearty apple crumble coated with a crispy, buttery topping, and accompanied with a scoop of your favourite ice cream.

While the tasty comfort food is commonly baked in the oven, one food expert has revealed how to make the perfect crumble in the air fryer - and it’s so much easier! Food expert Alida Ryder, who goes by @ simplydeliciousfood online, described her method on TikTok as "simple" but says it "delivers huge on flavour".

Made with just a handful of ingredients, the cosy dessert can be rustled up in less than half an hour, and will leave you craving more. Alida’s recipe is designed to serve six people, and can be enjoyed during all occasions.

Instructions

To start making this scrumptious winter-warmer, peel the apples, remove the cores and slice into thin slices. Grab a large bowl and add the apple slices, a splash of water, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Mix the ingredients well. Then, transfer the apple mixture into ramekins and place inside the air fryer.

Air fry the contents for 15 minutes at 180°C until tender. While you wait, make the crumble topping by mixing together the melted butter, flour, sugar and a pinch of salt until crumbly. Next, cover the apple mixture with the crumble and air fry for a further 10-minutes. Take the mixture out when the crumble is a golden brown colour. This can be served with cream, ice cream, or even Greek yoghurt.

Followers flocked to the comments sections to share their thoughts on the simple dessert. One user penned: "Love this - and perfect for these colder nights!" A second echoed: "Delicious," while a third shared: "Oooh yes". The full recipe can be found on Alida's website.
