Cian Ducrot was catapulted to global fame on TikTok and admits that he's "still having fun" but says his fame saw some around him change.

The Irish star, 26, who rose to prominence on the app in 2022 has amassed followers across the globe thanks to the algorithm of social media sites and he believes that this is the way forward. Although he had originally hoped to become a classical flautist, Cian's life dramatically changed following a trip to Los Angeles while he was studying at the Royal Academy of Music.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror at Hits Live Manchester about the trip that changed his life and processing his success, he said: "It's just time and understanding what it means, what it is you're doing and holding onto your purpose why you're making music and writing songs and wanting to be an artist.

"Just holding on to that. I think processing it all just takes time and it doesn't really fully sink in, you don't change, you notice everybody else, it changes everybody's perception of you but you're just the same so I think it's learning to understand it."

Discussing his meteoric rise to fame, he commented on artists being discovered on social media: "For now anyway (it's the way forward), it'll always be some form of social media now. That's where it's at, it's a really good opportunity and a really good tool for anyone to be able to create something for themselves, it's been really amazing for me, so just keep having fun with it and see where it goes."

Although he has amassed over one million followers, Cian admits he never anticipated winning over so many fans despite having hope. He explained: "You hold onto that hope for years and years but you fail so much that you feel it's almost impossible to work out but when it does work out, it's amazing."

His music, including hits such as Part of Me and All for You featuring Ella Henderson, has seen Cian put every aspect of his life out there for fans to hear. However, he says that his music makes it feel easier to communicate his feelings rather than talking one-on-one with another person.

"Sometimes you want the world to know something about you," he said before adding: "It's easier to put it out in a song and ignore what people are going to say. It's nicer for people to learn about you and I find it a good way to express myself."

But as some are looking forward to slowing down over the next coming months, Cian admits that he's got a busy year to come. He said: "I'm on tour and I've been on tour basically all year and this tour will end just before Christmas and probably after Christmas, I'll be doing a lot of writing for the next project, the new music and more shows and festivals."

Discussing performing at Hits Live at Manchester's AO Arena, Europe's biggest indoor venue, Cian says he had no worries, joking that the crowd "don't really care", as long as they are having fun and he's giving an emotional performance. "The bigger the crowd, the easier it is," he laughed.
