Billy Sharp has opened the door to a possible move to his infamous rivals Wrexham, having being released from LA Galaxy earlier this month.

Sharp made the move to Major League Soccer earlier this year, but his stay in the United States proved to be a short one after his contract expired following the end of the season. He made his MLS switch after his third spell with Sheffield United came to an end in the summer.

Four months earlier the striker was involved in a frosty two-legged affair with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham, which the Blades prevailed in thanks to a replay.

In the aftermath Sharp was seen clashing with Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson, before unloading on the then National League outfit in a post-match interview. "I am glad we've beaten them," Sharp said in February. "They are doing well in their league and we are doing well in ours but I wasn't happy with a few of their players there.

"They've been disrespectful. The way they've been as a club before the game, eyeing up Spurs before the game. They had not even beaten us. They thought we would just roll over when they got back in it, and I think the referee was helping them as well. I don't think he gave me one foul all night."

Remarkably though, the Englishman has now refused to rule out a potential move to the Racecourse. Speaking on William Hill's 'No Tippy Tappy Football' podcast, the former Blades forward said: "Wrexham are doing really well, fair play to them.

"I don't hold grudges. If that were one of my better options, why not." Sharp had reignited his feud with the Welsh club on the back of his move to Los Angeles, a place Wrexham owners and Hollywood stars Reynolds and McElhenney know well.

Unsurprisingly Sharp's outburst at Bramall Lane was included in the Red Dragons' Disney+ documentary 'Welcome To Wrexham'. Making the final cut was not an issue for the striker, who was quick to remind Reynolds and McElhenney that he was now best known in LA for his goalscoring rather than his documentary feature following his move to the Galaxy.

"If they want to put me in the documentary, go ahead. I think people in Los Angeles probably know me now for scoring goals rather than knocking (Wrexham) out of theFA Cup," Sharp toldThe Athletic during his time in Los Angeles. "People don’t even know the real story.

"Wrexham will put out what they want to on their documentary, and maybe I'll put out my own and tell them what really happened. I scored the goal, which knocked them out, and a little scuffle happened in the changing room.

"I don’t really like their manager anyway from past experiences, and he probably doesn’t like me."
