Robbie Williams has dedicated his song Angels to fan who died after falling at his Sydney concert.

A woman in her 70s called Robyn Hall suffered head injuries on November 16 after she fell down six rows of seats after the singer's concert at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, Australia. She then passed away on the following Tuesday.

The 49-year-old acknowledged the heartbreaking situation before he sang his song Angels in Melbourne this Wednesday night in an emotional tribute. According to footage a fan posted on social media, he said: "I heard the news, the tragic news this week that a fan died in an accident after the show in Sydney and I feel that, after all the years, I am you and you are me and we are each other when we come together.

"So when something happens like this it breaks my heart. I've been thinking about it an awful lot, and I thought about it all the way through the show tonight. I just want to give a big shout-out and lots of love from me and my band to Robyn and Robyn's family."

He then told the crowd: "Let's all sing up, she was somebody just like you that came to the gig just like you did tonight. And I think she deserves a big song and tonight this is for her." Robyn fell down six rows of seats before being rushed to a nearby hospital. She was then placed into an induced coma.

The horrifying accident happened after the show ended while thousands of concert-goers were filing out of the stadium. On Tuesday, medical authorities from St Vincent’s Hospital confirmed she had died. A stadium spokesperson said: "Rather than use stairs, the woman attempted to step over seating rows. She lost her footing and fell. This is a terribly sad incident and our thoughts and wishes are with the patron and their family during this time."

Following the accident, a stadium spokesperson broke the news and said paramedics were called to the stadium at 10.15pm, with an ambulance service spokesperson confirming to Sky NewsAustraliathat she had been taken to hospital in critical condition.

Venues NSW confirmed there had been a "serious incident" at the show, saying in a statement: "This is a terribly sad incident and our thoughts and wishes are with the patron and their family during this time. The patron was attended to immediately by venue staff and a nearby guest who is a qualified medical professional. Medics arrived shortly after and the patron was taken from the venue by ambulance to hospital."

Robbie didn't post anything about the horror fall on social media at the time but thanked fans for their support on the first night of his tour. He wrote: "Sydney: that was an unforgettable evening, thank you - I love you, Australia. Congratulations to Daniel and Lauren - I wish you a lifetime of happiness together. Rob x."
