Zombies mode in the new Call of Duty includes a new way to deal damage and we’ve got the skinny on how you can make the most of it.
The new Call of Duty is here, despite previous rumours that it would end up being glorified DLC, bringing with it the return of Zombies mode. A popular fan-favourite since it debuted way back in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War, the mode has shaped, shifted and changed countless times throughout the decades; so it shouldn’t be surprising to hear it’s gone through another evolution for this year’s Modern Warfare 3 entry. One of the biggest revolves around Toxic Damage, which is often key to completing daily challenges.
Daily challenges in MW3 are important to complete because it’s tied to the ability to unlock certain camo aesthetics for your weapons. A daily challenge might read “In Zombies, get 250 kills with Toxic Damage with the SVA 545”, for example, forcing you to get to grips with a gun you might not necessarily use otherwise. However, MW3 isn’t especially great at letting you know how this new type of damage in the Zombies mode works, but fortunately we’re here to shed some light on what Toxic Damage in MW3 Zombies is and how to take advantage of it.
What is Toxic Damage in MW3 zombies and how to use it
The first thing to know about how Toxic Damage in MW3 works is that there are three methods in which to deploy it: Experimental Gas, Elemental Pop can and the Brain Rot Ammo mod. Here’s a brief breakdown of how all three work.
- Experimental Gas: Unlocking Experimental Gas means reaching Level 18 and completing five daily challenges, where you’ll be able to swap it into your loadout in the place of Stun Grenades. There is a small chance you’ll find them throughout a standard Zombies mode match, but it’s incredibly rare.
- Elemental Pop can : First introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the Elemental Pop can returns in MW3’s Zombies mode and does exactly what it says on the tin. It serves as a perk that, when accessed, grants you with a randomised elemental affect to your gun. For Toxic Damage you’re hoping for the Bran Rot Ammo mod but it isn’t guaranteed.
- Brain Rot Ammo mod : To unlock the Brain Rot Ammo mod proper is a bit of a mission. It’s a lot rarer to see drop in a match than even the Experimental Gas, though it is far more effective at letting you rack up Toxic Damage kills against zombies quickly. Unfortunately, without a schematic, finding the Brain Rot Ammo mod for your gun is a pure roll of the dice.
Those are the three confirmed methods of dishing out Toxic Damage to enemies within the MW3 zombies mode. Once you know how to deal this type of damage effectively, completing those daily challenges tied to camo should be relatively straightforward.
