A woman has been called out after revealing that she has chosen to fly first class for an upcoming Christmas holiday - leaving the rest of her family back in coach.
Many of us decide to enjoy a festive getaway in December. It's a chance to spend quality time with loved ones and get into the spirit of the holidays ahead of the Christmas chaos. That's the case for this woman and her family, who decided to fly to Germany to fulfil her mum's dream of visiting the Christmas markets.
The annual December break has become a tradition that has grown over time, with 14 people going in total this year. As a result, there are different budgets to take into account - but, most importantly, the focus is on family time.
However, the woman in question has divided the group. Writing to the Daily Mail's agony aunt Jane Green, she said: "I don't come from a wealthy family but I'm pretty successful now and have developed what I guess you'd call a taste for luxury. Put it like this: there's no way I'm happily spending eight hours in coach, squashed between strangers with questionable hygiene."
She informed her family that she would be paying for herself to fly first class - and they were not impressed with her mum stating she would ruin family time. In the end, they had a huge fight with her mum accusing her of having 'hoity toity' ways and stating it was probably best she didn't come.

The woman concluded her letter by asking for advice, admitting she doesn't think she should be backing down just because family members can't afford the same luxuries.
Agony aunt Jane issued a strong response, noting that the trip isn't all about her. "Family trips are never about us; they are about mucking in, accepting that we get to do what we want on our own vacations, but when we are travelling in a pack, we put our own needs aside to do what's best for the group," she stated.
She further noted that, as her mother has said, removing herself from the flight might feel to the family like she is removing herself from the group. "If you re able to explain to your mother that you need some quiet 'me time' on the plane, but plan on doing everything else with the family as soon as you land, it may assuage her fears. If not, book that seat in coach and slum it a little - who knows, given the close quarters you might even make some new friends…"
