The I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! campmates are in for a rough ride in the jungle, although it might not be as tough as first thought.

Set in the Australian 'jungle', each year the rich and famous compete to survive the hunger, exhaustion and stomach-churning trials to be crowned king or queen of the jungle. However, it turns out that they're not quite as exposed to the elements as first thought.

According to reports, there's actually a man made roof over the camp to keep the recording equipment dry and provide the campmates with shelter if it rains. It will be welcome news for this year's campmates, including Hollyoaks actor Nick Pickard, TV presenter Josie Gibson, politician Nigel Farage and Britney Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn Spears.

Some of the scenery is also believed to be artificial, including the rocks around camp which are actually made out of fibreglass and the waterfall shower which is allegedly fitted with an 'off switch', so the water can be turned off between 3pm and 6pm to conserve water.

And the camp isn't exactly a jungle either. Springbrook National Park, where I'm A Celebrity is shot, is defined by Tweed Shire Council as "lowland subtropical rainforest", rather than a jungle.

The set isn't entirely covered though and the canopy doesn't cover camp mates' beds - the retractable roof is there to protect recording equipment, make sure the fire stays lit and help lower the bag down when their Bushtucker Trial reward arrives. It will make sense to some fans as viewers have been questioning how some celebrities manage to stay dry even when it's raining.

During last year's series, one viewer wrote: "It's amazing how dry all the other 'celebrities' were when he got back to camp after the heavy rain." And someone else penned: "Was that a rain machine? Suddenly [went] off." "I bet it didn't rain, it's sprinklers, you heard it here first," a third joked. But a source told MailOnline that it's only one area that is under shelter: "A lot of the camp is not under shelter - it's not like the roof at Wimbledon!"
