Gran Turismo 7 is the latest game to be added to the expanding list of titles to feature support for Sony’s highly anticipated new virtual reality headset when it launches in February.

PlayStation head Jim Ryan announced during Sony’s CES 2023 press conference that Gran Turismo 7 was one of more than 30 games available for the PSVR2 at launch. Ryan also revealed that a new version of the critically-acclaimed Beat Saber is coming to the platform and that more details about the game will be shared in the near future. Here’s hoping for a free upgrade since the game is already available on the original PSVR.

Other titles confirmed for launch include Horizon: Call Of The Mountain, Moss 1&2, and a PSVR2 version of Resident Evil: Village will also be available via a free update for owners of the PS5 version of the game.

The PSVR2 promises to be a huge improvement over the original PSVR, which was serviceable but held back by its reliance on old technology like the PS move controllers and using a camera for tracking.

Sony’s new headset boasts some impressive specs. They include an OLED screen with support for 4K HDR and frame rates of up to 120hz. It also includes impressive new controllers that feature the same adaptive triggers and haptic feedback as the Dual Sense controller and can also detect whether your finger is touching it, allowing for a greater level of immersion and control.

The one downside to this massive technical upgrade is that you won’t be able to play any of your existing PSVR games on your PSVR2 because the way the headset tracks your movement is completely different. Thus far, Sony has been tight-lipped about whether existing games will get patches to remedy this, or if any games will offer a free upgrade to the PSVR2 version, much like many PS4 games, like Horizon: Forbidden West, also include a way to download the PS5 version for free. This will change in the future. Right now, there are a lot of people that traded in their PS4 for a PS5, own dozens of PSVR games and have no easy way to play any of them.

PSVR2 will be out on February 22 for £529.99 / $549.99 /AU$ 879.95. Preorders are available now via PlayStation's online store in your region.
