The Princess of Wales' youngest son, Prince Louis, aged five, is said to have found one hobby in particular that he shares with his mother, and his grandfather King Charles, which would be likely to make any parent proud whether they are royal or not.

When children are young it's important to allow them to try out many different things and allow them to find hobbies they will be really passionate about. The Princess of Wales, who has dedicated her "life's work" to promoting the importance of early years development, has likely followed this and encouraged her children in their interests, whatever they may be. However, when one of these interests crosses over with the parent's own hobby, it can create a foundation for a lifelong shared interest that helps bring the family together.

Whilst visiting the Chelsea Flower Show last May, Kate revealed that Louis had recently taken an interest in gardening - he also visited the show run by the Royal Horticultural Society with his mother back in 2019, when she co-designed a garden for the prestigious event, and they even helped her put the finishing touches on her Back to Nature Garden.

This year while attending the Flower Show, Kate took part in the Children's picnic, where she mentioned to some of the kids in attendance about Louis' newfound love for gardening. Some of the children she was chatting with were growing sunflowers at school, and she told them: "They get so big, don't they?," she said. "Louis is growing broad beans at school. You put them in a cup and you can see the roots growing. They get big quickly, like sunflowers."

Kate is known to be a keen gardener and has even started keeping bees and making homemade honey in the last couple of years. Back in 2020, she also visited East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH) where she helped plant a garden for one of the charity's sites: the Nook. She brought with her lavender, bay leaf, and rosemary amongst other plants to help create a sensory garden for the children using the facilities.

This is a passion that she shares with her father-in-law King Charles who is a keen horticulturist and designed the gardens at his Gloucestershire home, Highgrove and since becoming monarch has implemented a new eco-friendly, climate Topiary garden on the Sandringham Estate.

Back in 2021, Charles spoke with Poet Laureate Simon Armitage on BBC Radio 4 and told him about how the gardening bug caught him when he was very young. "My sister and I had a little vegetable patch in the back of some border somewhere. We had great fun trying to grow tomatoes rather unsuccessfully, and things like that."
