The Voice UK viewers were in for a surprise on Saturday night as a huge 90s pop star auditioned for the show.
During the latest episode, Honeyz star Mariama Goodman, who has also made a surprising career change after becoming a midwife, decided to perform on the show. Fans will recall that Honeyz, created in 1997, are an R&B group with hits such as Finally Found, End of the Line, Love of a Lifetime, Never Let You Down and Won't Take It Lying Down.
And during Saturday's episode of The Voice UK, Mariama, 45, who recently toured the UK with the Honeyz, auditioned. Speaking in a VT, she said: "I was in a pop band called the Honeyz, we had five top ten singles! We were all young, just loving life and just enjoying what we were doing for a living. It was just amazing!

So there's been some reunion gigs, which has been amazing! Getting back out and performing and stuff, it's kind of what has inspired me to come back and have a go at The Voice. It [singing] was my first love at the end of the day, you don't forget your first love, do you? It means a lot to me [auditioning] because I've always wanted to see how I would do with it just being me."
However, despite delivering a powerful routine, none of the coaches - Olly Murs, Anne-Marie, Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am - turned around, meaning a disappointed Mariama had to leave the stage without her identity revealed to the judges, who likely would have been stunned to see the 90s star.

Talking amongst themselves, Olly, 39, said: "That was a beautiful song choice but I feel like in the middle she kind of lost her rhythm and where it was! The competition is so strong" while Tom, 83, added: "She was a good singer though!"
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were left gutted for Mariama. One person said: "The judges should have turned for Mariama #TheVoiceUK!", a different account put: "Ah man, no seat turns for Mariama from Honeyz #TheVoiceUK" with crying emojis, another fan wrote: "MARIAMA FROM THE HONEYZ!? #thevoice #thevoiceuk" while another show watcher added: "Mariama has a fab voice…#thevoiceuk!"
