Leroy Sane has revealed he is delaying contract talks with Bayern Munich as rumours of a potential move to Liverpool gather pace.

He has starred for Bayern since arriving in 2020, scoring 47 goals in 151 games and winning three successive Bundesliga titles. Sane has remained a key player under Thomas Tuchel, starting all 11 of their league games so far this season.

But there are increasing doubts over his future at the Allianz Arena, with the German entering the final 18 months of his contract. Liverpool appear to be his most likely destination, though Sane himself has insisted he is keen to stay focused on the current campaign.

The 27-year-old is currently on international duty with Germany and is expected to be involved in Saturday's friendly against Turkey. Sane was asked about his future in a press conference previewing the game, but turned down the chance to reveal too much.

“I haven’t given it any thought. The club wants to have discussions but at the moment I want to concentrate on the season. Bayern will be my first point of contract, everything else will take care of itself,” he said.

“I am taking on more and more responsibility, on and off the pitch. I really like the role and position at the moment. Julian [Nagelsmann] knows me very well and I want to repay that with good performances.

“I had good preparation and played into a flow. At the moment I'm really enjoying myself at the club and in the national team. I have big goals. Tomorrow will of course be relatively loud.

"Of course we’re looking forward to it. I was able to experience it in the Champions League in Istanbul, but also in Munich. There will be a lot of Turkish fans there and there will be a good atmosphere.”

Last month, Mirror Football revealed that Liverpool had made Sane their top target to replace Mohamed Salah. The Reds were able to hold onto their star attacker in the summer when Al-Ittihad launched an audacious bid to sign him.

Salah ultimately stayed at Anfield and is enjoying a stunning season for Jurgen Klopp's side. But there are concerns that the Egyptian may well leave in next summer's transfer window, in which case Liverpool will need a replacement.

The man they are eyeing to fill that role is Sane, with the Reds ready to smash their transfer record to sign him. He will not come cheap, with Real Madrid and Manchester City also eyeing a move for the German international.
