Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 will introduce updates to Zombies, new maps and a festive event. Here's when we expect MW3 Season 1 to start.

This year's new Call of Duty title is out now, with players able to jump into Modern Warfare 3 and experience the new Zombies mode and the nostalgia-filled multiplayer offering, as well as the single-player campaign. But, as was the case last year with Modern Warfare 2's launch, players have been made to wait for the launch of the game's first season of new content, with MW3 Season 1 set to release in the coming weeks, with big changes to Warzone also on the cards.

There are plenty of things to look forward to in the MW3 Season 1 update, including new multiplayer maps, Zombie updates and more. Here's when we think MW3 Season 1 starts and what we can expect in terms of new content.

MW3 Season 1 – start date

We expect the MW3 Season 1 start date to be Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Last year, the Modern Warfare 2 release date was Friday, October 28, 2022, with the Season 1 release date being on Wednesday, November 16 2022, just under four weeks later.

With the Modern Warfare 3 release date being Friday, November 10, 2023, and Activision confirming via a blog post that Season 1 is coming in December, it would make sense for Season 1 to launch on this date, which would be just under four weeks between the full game launching and Season 1 going live. Activision has yet to confirm the MW3 Season 1 start time, but it's likely to be at 5pm GMT / 12pm EST / 9am PST, based on previous updates, and will launch simultaneously on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

MW3 Season 1 – new content

Ahead of the launch of MW3 Season 1, Activision has teased some of the new content players can look forward to, via a post on Twitter. MW3 Season 1 content will include:

In addition, it has been confirmed that there will be free functional weapons set to be introduced, with Vault Edition owners able to activate their free Battle Pass and earn 50 Tier skips. It's also worth mentioning that any Warzone content you've obtained will carry over into the new iteration of Warzone, which is also set to receive the same gameplay overhaul we've seen in multiplayer, and this makes us very excited about it.
