The Princess of Wales is known to be a woman of many hobbies and while she occupies a unique position as a member of the Royal Family, she and her husband Prince William are said to like to keep things normal at home.
In 2022, Valentine Low revealed in his book 'Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown' that aides aren't allowed to wear suits or formal attire around the couple's three children: George, Charlotte, and Louis.
That the couple has dispensed with the formality usually associated with the Royal Family is not just visible in the rules for their staff, it is also clear in one of Kate's favourite hobbies: cooking. Back in 2019, she revealed on an official engagement that she regularly cooks with her children, which is a lot more normal than many people would imagine the future Queen to be.
There is also one meal in particular that is claimed to be one of Prince William's favourites, that Kate regularly makes for him - roasted chicken. In 2012, royal author Katie Nicholl wrote that making William his preferred dish and enjoying it was the couple's idea of a "perfect night."
"In the evenings, she indulges her hobby of cooking William’s favourite supper, roast chicken. That's their idea of the perfect night." This report in Vanity Fair came from a time when the couple were recently married and living in Anglesey, Wales. Nicholl also wrote at the time: "They are reported to own a sausage-maker, and she has started making homemade pots of fruit jam while her husband is at work. (She gave strawberry jam and plum preserves out as Christmas presents last year.)"
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'Much more recently, William admitted that he can't handle the heat when it comes to spicy food. During an appearance on 'Going Home with Vick and Jordan on Radio 1,' the couple jokingly discussed who would be cooking when they got home afterward when William said: "I can't do too much spice, I start sweating, it's not attractive".
Kate explained that because she does enjoy a kick of heat in her curry, she has to adapt her cooking method to William's intolerance, "I like the spice so I have to sort of cook the curry and then add the spice, extra spice at the end," once his portion is served up. Kate also said during the appearance that some of her go-to dishes are "a curry or teriyaki salmon, something like that".
