Stephen Mulhern says he “would be silly” to turn down the chance to co-host Dancing On Ice with Holly Willoughby. The skating show’s 15th series earlier this year was presented by Holly, alongside Phillip Schofield.
Both are off-screen at the moment, leading to speculation about next year’s series.
Stephen, 46, has fond memories of working with Holly, 42 – in Saturday Showdown in the mid-2000s, Dancing On Ice spin-off Defrosted in 2006, and standing in for Phillip on the show in 2022.
He said: “I absolutely loved it with Holly. We had a great time. And the response on social media was amazing. We are talking about Dancing On Ice. But I promise you now nothing has been agreed.
“I’ve not said yes, and I haven’t said no. Would I do it? I think it’d be silly not to do it. But nothing has been fully agreed. It would be great to work with Holly again.”
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesFor his next trick, former magician Stephen is making a revamped Deal or No Deal appearing on ITV next week.
His dad was a huge fan of the Channel 4 version with Noel Edmonds. Stephen added: “We used to always play it at Christmas. My dad would get loads of these little gift boxes.
“One of the boxes would have a £50 note in. The others would have little chocolates and scratch cards and that sort of stuff.”
Busy Stephen also hosts Catchphrase and In For A Penny on ITV, as well as appearing on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. He reckons the Geordie duo’s decision to end the after the 2024 series is a good one. Stephen said: “What they want to do is just take it away and just give it a refresh. Make it bigger and better. But I do think it’ll come back.”
