NFL superstar quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Josh Allen came together to agree that the game between their two sides should be called off after the scary incident which saw Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffer a cardiac arrest after a hit.

Hamlin collapsed on the field after a hit and needed on-field attention for over 30 minutes before he was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

In one of the scariest moments ever seen on an NFL field, the two teams came together after Hamlin was transported to hospital and agreed that they could not carry on with the game, suspended the fixture between the Cincinnati Bengals and Bills.

Although an important game ahead of the NFL playoffs, both teams stated that they did not want to proceed after the hit which saw Hamlin suffered the cardiac arrest, with the two star quarterbacks coming together to help make the decision.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Burrow said: "There's been a lot of emotions, obviously it was very, very scary. There's not been a lot of clarity, rumours and stuff going around - it's been an emotional 48 hours, there's not a lot of words you can say about what happened.

"We tried to do what we could, tried to give support, as much as you can in that situation. Nobody wanted to continue the game after that - we know how we would have felt if that was one of our guys and we felt the same with it being one of their guys."

Burrow was asked if he spoke to Allen prior to the confirmation of the game being suspended, which he said that he did, saying: "We didn't want to go back out there and play the game and neither did they so the right decision was made.

Hamlin's uncle, Dorrian Glenn has revealed some positive news, stating that his health is 'trending upwards', after having to be resuscitated for the second time whilst in hospital.

Speaking to CNN, Glenn said: "His heart had went out so they had to resuscitate him twice. They resuscitated him on the field before they brought him to the hospital and then they resuscitated him a second time when they got him to the hospital.

"I'm not a crier, but I've never cried so hard in my life. Just to know, like, my nephew basically died on the field and they brought him back to life."

He added: "They sedated him just to give a better chance for him to just continue to heal better. We are just taking it day by day. It seems like he's trending upwards in a positive way."
