Apple TV+ has dropped a new film that fans have said has “Black Mirror vibes” and could be the most "underrated film of the year". Sci-fi drama Fingernails premiered on Apple’s streaming platform on Friday (November 3), following a limited theatrical release.

From acclaimed writer-director Christos Nikou, the film follows Anna (Jessie Buckley) and Ryan (Jeremy Allen White), a couple who have found true love. It’s been proven by a controversial new technology that proves whether two partners really are in love.

There’s just one problem, Anna still isn’t sure. Then she takes a position at a love testing institute, and meets Amir (Riz Ahmed). The film blends dystopian sci-fi and romance and is driven by the performances of its award-winning cast.

Viewers can stream the film with a subscription to Apple TV+, which usually costs £8.99 a month and includes access to hit shows like the upcoming Godzilla spin-off Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and season three of Slow Horses. Apple TV+ also offers a seven-day free trial, meaning subscribers can watch Fingernails without paying a penny.

But throughout November, there are several ways to bag an even longer trial period with some awesome Black Friday deals. Currys are currently giving customers five months of Apple TV+ for free with any purchase – whether that’s a discounted TV, a new iPhone or a simple USB cable.

This Black Friday deal means bargain hunters can pocket a £126 saving over the 18-month term and have access to premium Sky channels like Sky Atlantic, Sky Max and Sky Documentaries, plus all the most-talked-about new shows on Netflix and Apple TV+.

Fingernails screened at the Toronto and Zurich Film Festivals in September and earned positive reviews from critics. General audiences have since taken to the film following its launch on Apple TV+, with many singing its praises on social media.

Some have argued the film’s dystopian premise has “Black Mirror vibes,” while others have argued it could be “the most underrated film of the year.” On social film platform Letterboxd, thegoosiestlucy said: “I had chills as the credits started rolling. This film is phenomenal, beautiful and incredible.”
