The world's first AI robot CEO which has a processor instead of a heart has been hailed an honorary professor in what has been called a "symbolic" moment.

Mika, a female humanoid bot, heads up Polish rum firm Dictador and was given the award at the 2023/24 Collegium Humanum University inauguration in Warsaw. She gave a speech on stage and highlighted the strengths of artificial intelligence.

She said: "My presence on this stage is purely symbolic. In reality, conferring an honorary professor title upon me is a tribute to the greatness of the human mind in which the idea of artificial intelligence was born. It is also a recognition of the courage and open-mindedness of the owner of Dictador, who entrusted his company to a humble spokesperson with a processor instead of a heart."

Mika was created by famous roboticist and scientist, Dr. David Hanson of Hanson Robotics, and became a company board member in September 2022. Dr. Hanson previously said: "We are very proud to see her developing her own character, talk about AI and share her innovative ideas for the future. Mika is the bomb." Marek Szoldrowski, President of Dictador Europe, said: "Dictator's board decision is revolutionary and bold at the same time. This first human-like robot, with AI, in a company structure, will change the world as we know it, forever."

Dictador stated: "Leveraging advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, her role as an AI CEO at Dictador has revolutionised corporate leadership. Equipped with state-of-the-art algorithms and machine learning, she exhibits unparalleled analytical abilities, enabling her to make strategic decisions and optimise the company's operations with precision."

It comes as recent research found that children would love to see robot referees among other technological advancements in sport. The survey, of 1,000 kids between the ages of 10-16, found that robot referees (41%), smart footballs with built-in cameras (41%), and exoskeleton suits to protect athletes (17%) are some of the top features that young people would like to see introduced.

It was reported that 14% of them believe that motorised swimsuits are a genius idea, while 12% would like to see trampolines included in basketball. A spokesman for Virgin Media O2, which is supporting BBC Children in Need with 5G connectivity across their national Hado eSport tour, said: “Technological advances are unlocking new possibilities every day. From VAR to Hawkeye, smart balls to wearable sensors, technology has already transformed sport in ways unimaginable a few decades back.

"While we’re some way from many of the out-there ideas young people dreamt up, cutting-edge 5G connectivity will help unlock new innovation in future. It is clear from the research that children want to see more technology used, and that it would have a positive impact on how much they watch and play their favourite sports.”
