Rockstar Games boss Sam Houser has confirmed the reports that the first GTA 6 trailer will be released in December.

GTA 6 is probably the most anticipated game of all time with even the smallest bit of info being a huge deal considering how little official information has dropped on the game. Earlier today there were reports that a GTA 6 announcement will be happening either today during a Take-Two earnings call – or before the end of the week at the latest – with the GTA 6 trailer release rumoured to be coinciding with Rockstar's 25th anniversary in December.

Rockstar Games' boss, Sam Houser, has now taken to the official Rockstar Games Twitter account and posted that these rumours are true, saying "we are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you".

2023 marks 10 years since the last entry in the series – GTA 5 – released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the game seeing re-releases on subsequent console generations including the current-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X|S over the years to really milk it for all it's worth. And GTA Online has has its fair share of updates and constant support over the years as well. Considering there was only a five-year gap between GTA 4 and GTA 5, it's no wonder fans have been desperate for GTA 6 news as the last decade has waned on.

Rockstar Games did at least confirm that GTA 6 was in development in February 2022 so that was something to tide over the community

Not much is known about GTA 6 as of yet, with rumours suggesting that the game will be set in Miami, much like 2002's critically acclaimed GTA: Vice City. Rumours also stated that the game will feature two main characters including the series' first female protagonist. In late 2022 we did see some gameplay which seemed to confirm both of these rumours when the developer was hacked, but legal action saw the internet scrubbed of all morsels shortly afterwards.

GTA 6 will also mark the first game in the series that Dan Houser (GTA producer, writer, and one half of Rockstar's sibling duo co-founders) and series producer Leslie Benzies will not be involved in. The pair have been a pivotal part of the GTA franchise since 2001's GTA 3 and have been instrumental to its success.

It's also the first title to follow Rockstar Games' last release – the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2 – so if GTA 6 manages to keep up to the standards set by that game, we could be in for something special.
