Eurovision's Johnny Logan left with 'broken heart' after brother's tragic death

Legendary Eurovision star Johnny Logan made a heartbreaking announcement on social media, revealing his older brother had died.

Taking to his Facebook page, the 69-year-old Hold Me Now star announced the passing of his 71-year-old sibling Michael Sherrard last night. He passed away exactly six years after their other brother Eamon died back in 2017.

Michael had been Johnny's guitarist and musical director for many years and was living in Manchester. In tribute, Johnny admitted that there was "a hole in our hearts now that will never heal" in his heartbreaking admission.

He wrote on Facebook: "It's with a broken heart that I have to announce the passing of my brother Michael Sherrard. He passed away in the company of his three beautiful children. I was with him the day before. He is survived by his children Chloe, Ellie and Nathaniel, his grandson Henry, our sister Fiona, our cousin Miggie, myself and our extended family.

"Most of you have known Michael over the years and you will know how much we loved each other. There's a hole in our hearts now that will never heal. I wish I could say more but right now words fail me. He passed away six years to the day since we lost our younger brother Eamonn. I'll see you again my lovely brothers, Michael and Eamonn, with our parents but not yet."

Johnny, born Seán Patrick Michael Sherrard, concluded: "I write this with a broken heart and tears in my eyes. Love always, Sean." Fans flocked to the post's comment section, with one writing: "My deepest condolences Sean to you and your family.

"I'm sending hugs and prayers. RIP Michael. May your memories shine bright and light up those dark moment." Another penned: "My deepest and sincere condolences to you and your family Sean." While someone else said: "I am so sorry for you and your family's loss of Michael, he has given us all so many laughs and great music over the years I will miss him, condolences Sean to you and the family."

Another commented: "O Sean I’m so so sorry sweetheart for you all to hear this terribly sad news x sending love to you and & our thoughts are with you at this very very sad time - god bless you Mick you will be fondly remembered , such a lovely guy - rest in peace ducky xxx"

While a fifth concluded: "I am so sorry for you and your family's loss of Michael, he has given us all so many laughs and great music over the years I will miss him, condolences sean to you and the family." Logan won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980 with the song What's Another Year, which topped the charts in eight countries. He won for a second time in 1987 with Hold Me Now.
