A bus has hit a railway bridge leaving passengers at one of the country's busiest stations stranded.
The crash occurred at a bridge in Harrow, West London, earlier on Sunday afternoon, impacting trains between Euston and Watford Junction. Trains were delayed by 15 minutes, causing the central railway station to descend into chaos.
A spokesperson for National Rail posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday evening writing: "INFO: #HarrowWealdstone - Trains running between London Euston and Watford Junction may be delayed by up to 15 minutes following a vehicle colliding with a bridge at Harrow & Wealdstone."
The crash appears to have mostly affected passengers on Avanti West Coast services, with a spokesperson for Avanti saying: "This is due to a bus colliding with a bridge between Watford Junction and London Euston. Services have picked up delay inbound to London Euston which is now causing delayed to departures. I do apologise for this." Delayed passengers have been venting their frustration at the chaos.
One passenger wrote: " I've been stood [sic] here for an hour looking at a board full of delays and no word on what's happening..." Another posted: "I’m on the 15:32 from Stafford to Euston and the train is currently stopped with not a single announcement as to why we’re almost 30 minutes delayed I understand there’s been an incident at harrow [sic] but there’s been absolutely no communication from staff on board."
