A landlady who sold racy pictures of herself to save her beloved boozer has reluctantly had to close it for forever.

Lauren Beers gave The Waggon and Horses near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, fresh hope by making saucy content for a popular subscription-based website. She charged £12-a-month on the popular site for her content and punters were able to continue drinking at the pub.

But now she's made the "terribly difficult" decision to close The Waggon and Horses for good due to mounting financial concerns. These began during the coronavirus pandemic. Writing on the boozer's Facebook, the team wrote: "It's taken us a day or so to figure out the words for this post, so maybe it's just best to be blunt."

The post added: "Unfortunately, we have made the terribly difficult decision to close with immediate effect. Since Covid hit hospitality in 2020 - we haven't taken a wage from the pub. Ploughed all the grants/ bounce back loans straight back into the business in hopes there was still longevity in this trade, as we'd always planned. We've both had part time jobs to help."

It was also explained that they have also ploughed their own money into the business in the hope it would survive. Over time they learnt this may have been the "wrong" thing to do, but they did everything they could to keep the boozer serving up pints, Daily Star reports.

Despite working hard over the past 12 months to keep the business going, it sadly hasn't been possible. Back last year, Lauren even took to getting saucy to try and put the business back on the map. At the time, she said: "We’re fighting to stay open as the pub is a dying British tradition, and we have staff who will lose jobs if we close.

"I've only ever been really good at three things: pulling pints, necking pints and t**s. So... I thought I'd combine a guy's (and lots of girls') favourite things. You subscribing could mean the survival of a Great British Boozer."

Alongside her OnlyFans account, Lauren even brought out her own limited-edition beer in a bid to drum up some extra cash. Sadly, it hasn't been the case, as Lauren admitted the bills just continued to grow. She said it's setting them back around £30,000 a month to open the doors, whereas it used to be around £18,000.

It's come as a devastating blow, but she said it's been a "pleasure" to serve the customers over the past 10 years. She said they feel lucky to have served so many lovely customers and friends, and thanked everyone for their support.
