Superdrug is shaking up its loyalty scheme this week with a new “VIP Rewards” offering.

Shoppers will have to reach a spend threshold to unlock a reward through the new update to its Health and Beautycard scheme. Once you’ve spent £300, you will reach VIP status and will get 12 months of “always on” offers and other monthly discounts.

Superdrug says the type of “always on” deals customers will see include 10% off own-brand products and beauty services. Customers will be able to be used these in conjunction with other Superdrug offers such as Star Buys and members only prices

The new rewards scheme will automatically update for all current Health and Beautycard app and Superdrug.com members when they log in after October 25. Shoppers will still be able to collect points with their Health and Beautycard, with one point awarded for every £1 spent at Superdrug. You can spend points in multiples of 100, with 100 points worth £1.

Matt Walburn, eCommerce Director at Superdrug said: “We are excited to bring the new App and introduce VIP Rewards to our shoppers. We wanted to reward our loyal customers with offers that they would find useful and be able to use day to day on products we know they love.

“We also wanted to make sure the rewards were accessible for a good amount of time, allowing shoppers to remain as a VIP for 12 months after reaching the threshold of £300, means that shoppers can take full advantage of all of our promotions, using stackable discounts to get fantastic prices.

“The new VIP Rewards scheme also sees us starting our journey to move from physical cards to an app based loyalty scheme, enhancing our offline plus online initiative to engage and improve the customer experience.”

It comes after Superdrug announced it will stop selling disposable vapes in all of its stores across the UK and Ireland, citing the environmental impact as the reason for the move. Superdrug says that nearly five million single-use e-cigarettes are now disposed of every week in Britain - up from 1.3million last year.

The products that will no longer be sold include Flavaah and Vuse Go - a British-American Tobacco brand. Superdrug has not yet announced a specific date for the ban to come into place, although it said it aims to have its stock clear by the end of this year.
