A British dad-of-four is in a serious condition in hospital after he was involved in a motorcycle accident in Greece.

Kie Mathias, a father to "four beautiful girls" from Lydden near Dover, is currently in a serious condition at a hospital as doctors assess his injuries after he was involved in a serious crash in Athens. Some reports say he has a number of broken bones and severe head injuries.

Kie was riding his rented motorbike on Friday when he was involved in a crash with a trolleybus - a form of transport in Athens likened to both a tram and a bus.

Kie's brother Daniel has set up a GoFundMe and is asking for help to pay his medical bills as they don't think his insurance will cover his expenses. Once he is stable, they plan to put him on a flight back home to the UK.

Daniel and his dad flew straight out to Greece after learning of the accident. Daniel said that he had become saddened after gaining access to the room where Kie had been staying and seeing the poor conditions he was staying in. He said "the hotel was in a run down area and the room was horrendous", adding that he was "sad as I know that is all he could afford".

"I imagine he hired a bike to make the most of his trip and get out of the hotel. I'm sure he wasn't having a great time which breaks my heart", he wrote on the GoFundMe page. The distraught brother concluded by saying "Kie is a father to four beautiful girls who really need him home and well".

Speaking to Kent Online, Daniel said: “It is an agonising waiting game but someone in the family will be with him all the time. I haven’t even bought a return ticket back from Greece but I am staying at least until our mum and dad come over.”
