Britney Spears slams sister Jamie Lynn for 'capitalising' from conservatorship

Britney Spears has called out her sister Jamie Lynn Spears for making money off of her conservatorship.

During her battle to end her 13-year conservatorship, Britney shared that she felt her sister was "writing a book, capitalising on it," the book in question was the former Zoey 101 star's book Things I Should Have Said.

In her memoir, The Woman In Me, she details that she felt "betrayed" in her time of need. She wrote: "My sister and I should have found comfort in each other, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case.

The Toxic singer opened up about her conservatorship which was imposed on the pop star 15 years ago following her highly-publicised breakdown and Britney fought to have her dad Jamie Spears removed as the conservator. The conservatorship gave her dad control of regulating every aspect of her life, including restrictions on her spending, her visitors and even the kind of phone she can have.

In November 2021, Judge Brenda Penny ruled the conservatorship should come to an end - giving Britney control of her personal life and her money - after her lawyer Mathew Rosengart asked the judge to end the conservatorship without a medical evaluation. The hitmaker is now able to make her own medical, financial and personal decisions for the first time since 2008.

She recently admitted that during her conservatorship she feared for her life and thought her family would "try to kill her." In excerpts, she wrote: "At various times I pushed back, especially when my father took away access to my cell phone.

"I would be smuggled a private phone and try to break free. But they always caught me. And here’s the sad, honest truth: After everything I had been through, I didn’t have a lot of fight left in me."

Britney added that she was "tired and scared" and feared for her life. "After being held down on a gurney, I knew they could restrain my body any time they wanted to. They could’ve tried to kill me, I thought. I started to wonder if they did want to kill me," she continued.
