Faye Winter has admitted to 'brushing' her breast cancer scare 'under the carpet' after she discovered a lump in her breast earlier this year.

The Love Island star, 28, was on a girls holiday in March this year when she discovered a lump in her breast while applying suncream. Later in June, after undergoing checks on the lump, she was given the all-clear.

Faye, who split from Teddy earlier this year, then posted about the health scare in June and urged fans to check their breasts but didn't mention much about the ordeal since. However, earlier this month Faye decided to candidly open up to fans in another post and admitted she felt as if "everything was falling apart" as she went through the process of getting her breasts checked in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which falls every October.

She shared a photo of herself looking upbeat while throwing up the peace sign as she sat in a waiting room and admitted to feeling "completely overwhelmed" during the dark time in the caption. Faye received floods of praise for the honest share in the comments section.

"We all have or know someone with a cancer story I am so proud of you Faye Winter you are always trying to help other people you truly are a diamond," one wrote. Another said: "Your such a beautiful caring lady Faye the support you give to people is amazing the way you have got people checking and what's so nice is people are supporting each other Thanks Faye so proud of you love you".

And a third said: "Thank you for sharing this Faye and raising awareness".

While fans said they were proud of Faye for being open about her story, the reality star admitted in a candid chat with the Mirror on the red carpet of the Pride of Britain Awards earlier this month that she had initially "brushed" the ordeal "under the carpet".

Faye said of her health scare: "When it happened back in March when I was on holiday with the girls it was one of those things where it kind of happened, I spoke about it and then I brushed it under the carpet and was like, 'Ok I’ve had a big year, I wanna take time to heal and deal with what I wanna deal with'.

"And now it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month I think it’s so important that people are checking. My Instagram is normally me looking glam and then me on dog walks – which I absolutely love – and then to actually post a very raw image, it is really hard.

"But, actually, if I can get one person to check which I already know as so many people have messaged me and said they already have, I’ve done my job that’s what I’m here to do. I have a platform and my platform isn’t there to promote fast fashion, it’s not there to promote beauty it is purely there to promote, hopefully, goodness in the world and try and raise awareness."
