Gogglebox fans were left in tears after the show paid tribute to Dave the dog.
The Malone family shared the heartbreaking news their beloved family dog had sadly died. Julie and her husband Tom announced the news on Wednesday that the famous Rottweiler had passed away. The family hinted Dave had an illness in his final days and have been flooded with support from fans. Dave became a fan-favourite on the Channel 4 show for his cheeky appearances in the Malone's living room.
At the start of Friday's show, a clip of Dave's funniest moment was played. Julie and Tom were joined by their son Shaun and Dave in their living room during a previous episode of the show. Shaun waved a green ball for Dave, which caused him to jump up onto Tom and knock him right in the private parts. Tom shouted out in pain, and recoiled onto the sofa causing the TV remote to go flying into a glass of water.
Fans found the clip emotional as they took to social media to share their condolences. One viewer said: "Aw, we’ll all miss you Dave!" Another added: "Awww opening the show with Dave. RIP you legendary doggo." Someone else wrote: "Dave was the best face of gogglebox his antics with Tom was hilarious. I'll never forget that time Dave headbutted tom square in the nose RIP Dave." A fourth commented: "Nearly cried seeing Dave at the beginning of #Gogglebox You'll be misses by the entire nation you gorgeous doggo."
Another viewer said: "Cant cope already RIP Dave." However, as the show went on many fans expected another tribute to Dave at the end of the programme. One person wrote: "If Dave the dog gets his photo up at the end of tonight’s show I’m gonna cry." Typically when a cast member of the show has passed away, they have their photo showed at the end credits.
