Big Brother's AJ Odudu won't be applying for the biggest vacancy in TV

She was tipped to replace Holly Willoughby on This Morning but Big Brother’s AJ Odudu is ruling herself out of the running.

The former Strictly star says she doesn’t fancy the early rises of the role Holly left last week, shortly after Phillip Schofield departed from the ITV show. “I don’t do mornings,” says AJ. “They have to be there at, like, 8am. I’m a night owl.” This Morning starts at 10am while Big Brother’s evictions start at 9pm and the Late and Live spin-off is at 10pm.

AJ’s mum stays up to watch and has told her off for running around the studios in tiny, pointed stiletto heels. She said on Tuesday: “My mum said, ‘Why can’t you just walk instead of all this?’” AJ, right, who co-hosts the series with pal Will Best, had a night off on Tuesday for the Glamour Women of the Year in partnership with Samsung.

AJ, who had a security guard for her £1million worth of diamonds for the awards, does defy physics as she races across the shiny studio floor with a microphone to chat to audience members. In fairness to mum, a foot injury is probably the only thing that stopped her lifting the Glitterball trophy on Strictly Come Dancing, when she was left on crutches and forced to sit out the show’s final - so it’s no wonder mum is concerned about her having a fall.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, AJ addressed how the world has changed since Big Brother first aired in 2000. She told Rolling Stone: "I think it’s actually got a much more important place than it ever has before.

"It does feel like society was a lot more innocent and naïve then. People are yearning for diversity more than ever, not just on screen, but they want to see themselves reflected back. I think it’s got a really important place, and that’s the special thing about Big Brother – you don’t have to have any sort of singing talent or be able to cook or be single or be young and hot, or looking for love. All you need to do is be interested and interesting. We all get to learn from the people we get to know over those months and weeks."
