Great British Bake Off contestant Tasha was sent home ill, causing a huge elimination shakeup.
The 27-year-old has been impressing judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith so far, but struggled during chocolate week. She became ill due to a heatwave at the time of filming. In the episode that aired on Wednesday night, things got too much for Tasha during the technical challenge as she was advised by show medics to step away from the competition. She was supported by host Alison Hammond as she left the set.
Tasha, who works as a participation officer and is Bake Off’s first deaf contestant, was also unable to make it to the showstopper challenge that was filmed the following day. She was given a free pass straight into next week's show. However, it gave the judges a dilemma as they had to weigh up if they were still going to send a contestant home.
Viewers sent their well wishes to Tasha as she missed the competition. One said: "Wasn’t Alison lovely to Tasha. Hope Tasha feels better for the next challenge." Another added: "I really feel for Tasha because I feel on fire once it goes over 17 degrees. I would not be able to cope in that tent either." Someone else commented: "Do they choose chocolate week on the hottest day of the year every year on purpose or what ?!" A fourth wrote: "Aww, poor Tasha. Love how caring Alison is."
Fan favourite Saku struggled on Wednesday night as her technical challenge cheesecakes didn't go down too well with Prue and Paul. She managed to receive some positive feedback during the showstopper challenge, as they liked the flavours of her chocolate box but thought it was a bit dry. Viewers were nervous the intelligence analyst might be sent home.
Alison Hammond's divorce, failed engagement and mystery man who 'worships' herYet luckily for Saku, she was saved as the judges decided to send no-one home this week. Fans were delighted as they took to X - formerly Twitter - to share their thoughts. One person said: "Yes Saku still in it!!" Another added: "ANOTHER WEEK OF SAKU! WE ALL WIN." Someone else commented: "So pleased Saku gets another chance. When she smiles she makes my day."
A fourth wrote: "I was so worried for Saku for a bit there." As another fan gushed: "I’m so happy nobody is going home yet!! Get to see Saku for another week." Someone else quipped: "YAY NOONE LEAVES." It came after fans admitted how much they'd be disappointed if Saku went home, as one said: "Guys.. if Saku goes, we grab our pitchforks and we ride at dawn, agreed?!"
