Newcastle features a nine-race card on Tuesday where Newsboy's Nap, Pop Favourite, runs in the 6.30

POP FAVORITE can be a big hit in the BetMGM: It's Showtime Handicap (6.30) over a mile at Newcastle today.

Scott Dixon’s gelding is a four-time course and distance winner at Gosforth Park, and there is every reason to believe he can make it five over the tapeta all-weather.

The latest of the geldings three victories this year came in a 12-runner handicap here 15 days ago, where he beat Royal Prospect, who he faces again, by length.

On a surface he enjoys, expect my selection to defy a 3lb penalty.

The BetUK. It's Where The UK Bets Handicap (4.55) over a mile and a half sees the return of MILITARY MARCH , who has been off the course for 999 days.

Winner of a Newmarket Group 3 in October 2019, he then finished fourth in the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas the following season behind Kameko, before finishing down the field in the Singspiel Stakes at Meydan.

Godolphin clearly feel it was worth persevering with the son of New Approach, and while the five-yer-old will clearly need the run after such a long lay-off – and over a new trip and racing surface – he is by far the class horse in the field.

His trainer, Saeed bin Suroor, is also adept at bringing back horses after training setbacks.
