Sam Faiers health update after she leaves Pride of Britain 'in discomfort'

Sam Faiers says she is bouncing back from a nasty stomach bug after illness forced her to cut short her attendance at the Pride of Britain Awards last weekend.

The 32-year-old mum-of-two was among the guests attending the award show at Grosvenor House in London on Sunday night where the extraordinary achievements of members of the public were celebrated. But Sam wasn’t able to watch through the impressive ceremony as she was forced to exit early.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star arrived at the event alongside partner Paul Knightley - and were both matching in smart black outfits. But Sam ended up departing early and being left bed bound due to sickness.

Taking to social media on Thursday, Sam shared a snapshot from her home as she was laying watching daytime TV. Giving an update to fans, the reality star explained that she had been battling a stomach illness.

She wrote online: "Hey guys...been super poorly with a stomach bug. Sunday at the Pride of Britain, I left early as I was in a lot of discomfort... I've been in bed since. Anyway I'm feeling a lot better today. Finally on the mend. I can't wait to get back to normal x. Plenty of James Martin the past few days!"

The Pride of Britain Awards saw honours being handed out to a wide range of people who had achieved incredible feats for charity and demonstrated breathtaking examples of bravery. Winners were chosen by the Pride of Britain judging panel from a shortlist drawn up after tens of thousands of public nominations were received.

Among those taking home awards on Sunday night were Jack Rigby, the schoolboy son of murdered Lee Rigby who raised more than £54,000 for military bereavement in memory of his soldier dad and he scooped the Good Morning Britain Young Fundraiser Award . And other winners on the night included Children of Courage winners Ravi Adelekan and Freya Harris, who both deal with life-changing illnesses through inspirational bravery.

And everyday hero John Rastrick thought nothing of his own safety when he ran towards a crashed car that burst into flames on the M1. Lorry driver John, 69, pulled terrified Pari Mistry, 27, to safety moments before the petrol tank exploded. Viewers watching highlights on Thursday night were left in tears as his dramatic rescue story was recounted.

Show host Carol Vorderman said of the ceremony: “We can put on the most glamorous, glitzy show in the world, but it doesn’t mean anything without the winners. Celebrating their achievements is at the heart of everything we do, and this year, they are simply awe-inspiring. I know everyone is going to be so inspired by what they have done.”
