It's finally here - The Doctor has landed his TARDIS into the world of Magic: The Gathering, and he's brought with him companions, friends, and foes strewn across four commander decks.

In a press release earlier today, Wizards of the Coast have said the following, which echoes the information in our preview last week:

"Each Commander deck will feature new cards that will be legal in Legacy, Vintage, and Commander. These cards are designed for Commander, accentuating the fun and social aspect of the format that players love.

The four decks feature Doctors grouped together from the show’s history. Blast From the Past features the first eight Doctors. Timey-Wimey highlights the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctors. Paradox Power showcases the Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctors.

And let’s not forget the villains! The Masters of Evil Commander deck contains many of the Doctor’s archnemeses throughout the show’s 60 years.

Each deck contains companions familiar to each Doctor and can be used in the Command Zone with any Doctor. Mechanics of the cards are also reflective of the show’s time period in the decks. Saga cards highlight fan-favorite shows from each Doctor’s run."

On top of this, each deck will also feature 10 new-to-Magic Plane cards, and Saga cards linked to iconic episodes in each Doctors time on screen.

Serialised Cards

As well as TARDIS showcase versions of certain cards in the set, the Collector Boosters also feature extremely rare prints of The Doctor, each marked with it's own serial n umber. Wizards claim each card will receive "only around 500 printings", and stress that you can only find these in Collector Boosters.

Considering the serialised prints of The One Ring from the Lord of the Rings set now have insane value, this is something that is sure to bring excitement to a lot of Whovians.

There's also a Secret Lair Spookydrop, featuring Dalek land cards and Weeping Angels.

"A Labour of Love"

Wizards of the Coast are really proud of this set, stating that "All of these cards – Commander decks, Collector Boosters, and Secret Lair drops – are a labour of love, invoking the history of Doctor Who™ through the lens of Magic. Designers, writers, and artists worked to capture the world of Doctor Who™ in a way that made it exciting for fans of Doctor Who™ and Magic."

The cards are available now from wherever Magic products are sold, including Amazon and local game stores.
