Morrisons is slashing around 130 prices on its entry-level products to help customers feeling the financial squeeze this January.
The supermarket has invested over £16million to make the cuts and says it has done so to help those struggling after the expense of Christmas and as the cost of living crisis continues to impact household food budgets.
The discounts will be across Morrison’s fresh range which includes things such as bacon, cooked chicken, and cheese as well as fruit and vegetables like apples, pears and potatoes.
It also includes items across its frozen range like ready meals, fish fingers and prawns and cupboard essentials like tins of beans, chopped tomatoes and tuna chunks.

Washing-up liquid is dropping to 37p from 49p as well as toothbrushes dropping to 25p from 30p, toothpaste and sanitary products.
Morrison’s entry-level range has around 263 products and includes Morrisons Savers, Morrisons Wonky, and Morrisons Essentials.
The supermarket change says the price cuts will be made in all its 498 supermarkets as well as online and these prices are set to remain in place for the foreseeable future.
But you should still continue to compare prices first, as you may still find the same products cheaper or price matched elsewhere.
David Potts, chief executive at Morrisons, said: “Our Savers range offers customers great value on the products they buy every day.
“We want to do all we can to help when it comes to the cost of grocery shopping and by investing in the range and cutting the prices further, our customers will see a noticeable impact on their budgets at a time when they really need it.”
Morrisons has said it will be promoting the discounts across a variety of media as well as email and online activity so its customers are aware of the discounts they can get.
It will also change the seasonal isles in its stores to feature displays of the saver products while fresh and frozen items will have prominent displays in their aisles to help customers identify them.
