Big Brother contestant Hallie has revealed to her fellow housemates that she is a transgender woman.
The 18-year-old youth worker is one of the many people who joined the line-up of the rebooted Big Brother after it was taken off air for five years due to a drop in ratings.
Hallie will be seen gathering the other housemates around the dining table to share the news during Tuesday night's episode.
"Yesterday I feel like I wasn’t being 100% authentic in myself," she says. "I thought I’d let everyone know I’m trans, if you didn’t know already. I just thought I’d make that loud and clear. I’m a trans woman if you didn’t know."
Her fellow housemates are quick to praise her. Contestant Chanelle says: "Good for you. That’s very brave of you,” while Dylan says: “This is a moment. I like it.” Trish and Farida tell the youth worker that they've 'got her' when she admits she was nervous to open up about her identity.
TOWIE's Chloe Brockett makes cheeky dig at Saffron Lempriere during filmingHallie is this season's youngest contestant and is now living away from her family home for the first time. The youth worker from London explained that she had never lived away prior to applying for the show. As she introduced herself, she described herself as a "bit of a diva". But this won't stop the blonde bombshell from holding back as she believes she will rapidly become nominated for being "quite opinionated".
As well as fame, the housemates are competing to win an eye-watering £100,000 cash prize. This year's line-up includes mostly people in their 20s but it is one of the programme's most diverse seasons yet. Housemates include a Muslim make-up artist, an amputee DJ, a Miss Universe star and many more.
While many were excited to watch the new series, some people had complaints about the 2023 upgrade, including the colour of the house, the fact it was pre-recorded and the number of young people cast. "Great to see normal contestants rather than ‘influencers’ etc - but it feels flat, the colours of the house have given me a headache," one person wrote.
"It's a frantic, rushed, hastily edited, pre-recorded pile in of HM’s," one frustrated person wrote, while another slammed it as "too rushed and over edited with it being pre-recorded."
One particularly dismayed fan said: "It’s awful. I can’t believe it… there’s no life. Pre-recorded, rushed, there’s no commentary as they walk from the car, the Big Brother voice is wrong."
