Terrifying screams were heard as innocent pedestrians were shot at with fireworks in the middle of a high street.
Video footage captured the shocking moment the incident took place shortly before 7pm, on Saturday, 7 October, in Hulme, Manchester. A lone cyclist can be seen cutting across the path and out onto a quiet junction, near the side of a local leisure centre.
The figure is looking over his shoulder to where a number of fireworks suddenly explode into life, partly lighting up the street. This sends a number of pedestrians rushing away from the pyrotechnics, still carrying their shopping bags. During the carnage, one woman can be heard screaming “what the f*** are you doing?” in the distance.
One of the fireworks appears to only narrowly miss a pedestrian. One local, who filmed the incident said that the area was plagued by antisocial behaviour. They told the Manchester Evening News it took place “every weekend without fail”.
"The same group of teenagers every Saturday night gather outside fighting with each other and being the literal definition of antisocial," they said. Disturbances of a similar nature happen every Saturday night without fail. I suppose this occasion was different due to it being that time of the year where fireworks are sold."
