Sharon Osbourne shocked X Factor viewers with the savage advice she had for Rebecca Loos when she appeared on a celebrity version of the show.
Back when Sharon was a judge on the ITV talent series in 2006, Rebecca sang a rendition of Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love alongside James Hewitt on The X Factor: Battle of the Stars. But when it came to the judge’s comments, Sharon didn’t mince her words.
With Rebecca selling her story about having an affair with David Beckham to the News of the World and James disclosing he had a year-long affair with Princess Diana while she was married to Prince Charles, Sharon told the pair: “Good song choice for you two. Very appropriate song for you both to sing.”
Sharp-tongued Sharon continued: “It’s amazing, because you both have so much in common and it shows on stage. You do.” As laughter and boos could be heard in the audience, Sharon proceeded to tell former army officer James he “should be shot” for his performance.
Turning to Rebecca, she then said: “Mrs, you know what, if you get through tonight you should try doing tomorrow’s performance with your knickers on. Because it will help warm up your voice a bit more.”
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourEven X Factor supremo Simon Cowell appeared shocked by the comments and said: “Sharon!” in the unearthed clip, as Rebecca hit back: “Sharon, I didn’t expect to get a very nice comment from you because you’ve completely shunned me throughout this whole show, but that’s OK.”
“You’ve got a very bad vibe that comes from you,” Sharon added, as fellow judge Louis Walsh stepped in and said: “It wasn’t that bad Sharon, she carried the whole performance.” Bizarrely, Sharon finished her comments by praising Rebecca’s boob job and told her: “You’ve got very nice boobs though, you’ve got a very good boob job.”
As Rebecca responded she was doing the show for charity, now 70-year-old Sharon said: “It’s your own charity” as the audience booed. Wrapping it up, host Kate Thornton asked what Rebecca would like to say back. She said: “Do you want the truth or do you want the diplomatic reply?” But she was cut off as the show went to the voting lines before she could say any more.
Rebecca has been out of the spotlight for over a decade and now lives a quiet life in Norway with her doctor husband and two kids, where she reportedly makes a living as a yoga instructor.
But her alleged affair with David Beckham hit the headlines again this week as his new documentary BECKHAM, charting his life and career, dropped on Netflix and both David and Victoria spoke publicly about it for the first time.
While neither of them touched on whether the affair allegations were true, Victoria described the time in the early Noughties when David played for Real Madrid and Rebecca was his personal assistant as the “worst time of my life”.
David revealed in the documentary that both he and Victoria felt like they were “drowning” at that point as there seemed to be something new for them to deal with as a couple every day.
Saying it almost broke them, he candidly admitted: “I don’t know how we got through it in all honesty. Victoria is everything to me. To see her hurt was incredibly difficult. But we are fighters. And at that time we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family. And what we had was worth fighting for. But ultimately it's our private life."
